I really hope Mythic can fix it for you. Cause I'm telling you man if they can really balance things reasonably well come December, we will be in one awesome RvR game, and not just a PvP game anymore. I actually went through mixed reactions to WAR after buying it, at first I really liked it, then as I got further i started to think it was getting a bit dull, but I kept on playing to get the most out of my free month and I've ended up really liking it after doing a few keep sieges in Tier 3, true there aren't a lot of keep sieges going on all the time, but when they do happen they're mighty good fun, plus something to look forward to.
Couple points. One, WAR isn't necessarily trying to be WoW with scenarios, they're just giving people what they want. It used to be a lot harder to get into scenarios but people complained because they wanted scenarios so Mythic made them easier to get into. Two, if you want open world rvr, get a group together and go raise a ruckus. I've been running with a handful of people at various hours of the day and we go take stuff. We've figured out we can 6 man keeps with the right group so we can do a lot of damage if unchecked. Sometimes defenders show up, sometimes not. Sometimes allies show up, sometimes not. If you get the ball rolling, a lot of the time it'll pick up speed and snowball into something big. People just want action and scenarios are an easy source for that. Once they see action starting up in the open world, a lot of em won't hesitate to jump on board.
As for the balancing and character issues, 1.1 will make or break the issue. There are a number of fixes that need to be implemented in combat and as long as they're addressed in the update, I'll be happy as a clam. If they're not, Mythic will be getting a big %26quot;WTF?%26quot; feedback form from me.
WAR isn't perfect but it's solid, mostly stable, most of the quests work fine, there's lots to do, and it's only been out a little over a month. Mythic is crunching the numbers and getting ready to implement fixes where they're needed, so it's simply a matter of time before we see the major issues addressed.
In terms of leveling, sit next to the quest dude, queue up, turn quest in... horray... stand in town for the next 5 hours of gaming.
@level 40 , congrats yourself and make a alt or quit the game before you start getting charged monthly. Then maybe comeback if things work out.
Iam trying to craft, but thats not an option either, its broke as ****
I dont think Scenarios are what people want, but people do them because its the fastest way to level and most renown by doing so... *Cough* Thought the capitals were going to be end of all of end all...
well I think the lvl 40 game is alittle behind now because not everyone is there yet.
Just like it you hit 60 in wow in the first month it was a headache getting a run for any dungeon at all.
Give it some time on that one.
(and what about all the RR lvls and epic gearz? no love for that?)
I took my time leveling - alternating between quests, scenarios, and PQ's, and I love the game. Absolutely.
Now, I find myself rushing to level 40, because I didn't rush to 40 like the biggest Destruction guild on my server, so I feel a little behind and outmatched in scenarios Not to mention, once I hit 40, I've got like 3 builds waiting for me to try out. (a 2h damage spec, a support spec, and a brick wall spec.)
Also, my engineer buddy / guildie and I went to look around in Bastion Stair quite a bit - holy hell, it's AMAZING. Granted, we couldn't kill anything (We tried about 9 times, and failed each time, rofl) But, we went looking for skulls!
Every new zone I see in the Chaos / Empire zone makes me love it all the more, and make me love the single-Capital City idea even more. (I have a fetish with Norse mythology and European architecture if you haven't noticed.)
And, as for the tanks being useless in RvR...I'm not sure I get what you mean. You'd be surprised how easily a single Challenge from a tank can turn the tide of an entire battle. Challenge is especially awesome when an Engineer uses Electro-Magnet, and you follow up with a nice Challenge on every target that was sucked in.
Not to mention, you should always be making use of Guard.
Overall, though...not sure what to tell you..did you perhaps have a few too many power sessions that got you sick of the game?
My playtime is restricted a lot, so it only makes me wanna play more. Maybe rolling an alt while you wait for everyone else to catch up would be a good idea. (Just ask Thrakus...) I know for a fact that a lot of Order on my server won't do ORvR because Destruction outlevels, and outnumbers us by a landslide, so going in at level 32 - 35 when your opponent is mostly 40 isn't much fun when you get slaughtered.
It's funny, I hear a lot of people that %26quot;rushed to 40%26quot; gripe about the game. Now, I'm not saying everything is perfect w/ WAR, but I'm having a lot of fun running through T3, and had a blast in T1 %26amp; T2 . I'm lvl 27 rr26 right now, and believe I've found my niche in this game . Leveling up both at approximately the same rate wasn't intentional, but just how I play the game for my maximum enjoyment.
I guess my point is this, play the game the way you want. Your playstyle should match you enjoyment level. If you can't stand the game then perhaps you never will, but I hope you can find your niche one day too.
my only issues with t4 are that there's not a lot of people out and about (no biggie though, game's still new) and that a nfew of the higher chapters don't have any inf rewards (greenskin chapter 19 comes to mind)
all and all, though, I've never logged on and had nothing to do, even being the only member of my guild in t4.Trust me, I like the class (swordmaster), but when people chose to be a solo healer off by themselves to maximumize their renown, same with dps classes... it just doesnt get people together... I had an easier time in WOW making pugs... in this game, people just ignore it...
Tier 2/3 it wasnt too hard to make pugs, but tier 4, everyone out for themselves... probably cause they learned that its better to solo and the objectives dont even matter because you get way more exp/renown solo even in a loss... and most times theres not enough to time to win the SC, currently the popular one has been serpents... but you have to be almost perfect to score 500 pts in 15 mins.. with no resistance.
Also I think it was easier in T3 to make pugs because a win was worth more than solo... so thats why people did groups... now its just fight them to their spawn and camp them for as long as we can (t4 in serpents). They need to make the Serpents sc worth more in a win than a loss... and fix the caps... as in caps give zero experience/renown... no point for anyone to run parts.
Now, I'm taking my time levelling and trying out different careers and so far it's been good, not great, but good.
I'm an EU player and my biggest gripe right now is that all the EU players are spread out over too many servers. I'm currently playing on Karak Ungor and it usually takes 1-2 hours to even get into a scenario, and the PvP zones are deader than dead, it's really discouraging when all you really want to do is bash peoples faces in. I could do some PQs, but I'm usually the only one in the immediate area or the only one interested, which means I have to grind stage I of a lot of different PQs to get inf. So far I've have only completed 1 PQ in Troll Country/Ostland. IMO, the whole character transfer thing needs to get going and fast, and I mean REALLY fast.
I honestly don't have all that much to base character balance on, because it's been so difficult to get any PvP'ing done, but if you were to ask me I'd say careers like the Shadow Warrior and Squig Herder are the most underpowered at the moment. My main is a Shaman and there's just nothing they can do to me, my healing can easily keep me up even though I'm using the Divine Fury tactic and I'm mainly bumping Intelligence rather than Willpower (still always in top 4-5 in healing, usually top 3).
I don't understand why you knock tanks, though. Play a sword%26amp;board tank and have a healer at your back, and you never die, NEVER. I can easily heal a BO through 3-5 guys trying to get him down, while our dps'ers pick them off.
BW's and Sorcs are really powerful also. It's easy to stand in the back and bombard your opponents and it's very difficult to get to them, when you have to wade through 4 IB's/SM's and a truckload of melee dps'ers.
you don't have to run scenario after scenario, if your sole goal is to hit 40 then that's your own fault not the games.
Uhm, so if you play scenarios you sole goal is to hit 40 now? I don't really care what other people think of them, but I find scenarios to be one of the most exciting things about this game so far, so what's wrong in wanting to play them more often? And, like I implied, I haven't really had an opportunity to compare scenarios to open world pvp, because I have yet to find a single enemy player in the PvP beds...
I know a lot of people on these boards and others find scenarios less interesting than open world pvp, but honestly I like to do PQs and quests by my self and with my friends too, and I really don't want to sit around the pvp beds doing nothing while waiting for orders players to finally show up.. it's just easier to sign up for a scenario while we/I do other stuff.
