WAR Witching Event less than incredible

I am very disappointed in this event.

The open RvR aspect does not seem to work as intended.

The higher population is gonna dominate no matter what side it is.

It's not like a keep take, there is no where to hide.

and finishing it and killing the lord gives a very small amount of influence.

The PvE thing is super super grindy.

Killing spirits, witches for a few hours only gives a bit of inf.

And all this for items with no stats.

And I don't think they should have stats, but it should be a FUN event we can all enjoy.

Not something that's harder than anything else in the game itself.

Very underwhelmed with it and the grind.

Very Leery for the Heavy Metal Event and how much worse that will be considering it will be stretched out over a few weeks instead of a few days.

I don't think I'm going to get the rewards for the Witching Event as I've only managed to get a tiny little spec of Influence after trying for about 3 hours

I didn't find it that bad. The problem I saw was that on my server no one from the destruction side was out there trying to do the PQ, so only a few of us were staying close to the warcamp. The order folks which were more numerous were just camping us. This is was in T4, which I guess the majority of people were doing other things.

The PvE isn't that bad, the trick is to find a cauldron and just camp that while queuing scenarios. I got a mask fairly easily and enough influence for the basic reward. Each kill I got 100 inf for spirits and witches. Maybe they should adjust the influence needed for the elite reward to be a little less.

I think what they should do is have an NPC that dispenses some basic masks to everyone, like you can get 1 random mask per day or something. That way people don't have to spend time grinding if they just want some trinket and add cooler stuff to the influence rewards and random drops from spirits.

Well, I'm going to disagree a little here . Last night's T3 action in Black Fire Pass was a lot of fun. Granted we outnumbered order by a bit, but the RvR fighting in between the PQ's spawning was very active in my opinion. I have to say the last time I had that much fun was in Open Beta.

I'm going to wait to judge it until the end. Mythic tends to gear up their halloween events in DAoC, so I'm hoping that at some point its much easier. But the RvR PQ problems are a shame. Last night I couldn't find any of it in my general playing, so I can't comment on how good it is.

The Public Quest has been great for open RvR on the first day on the Ostermark server in Tier 3. Until very early in the morning, the sides seemed pretty even (or at least the numbers were large enough on both sides that a numerical advantage didn't matter).

The Public Quest has done wonders for encouraging players to act the way they should in RvR - working together and protecting each other equally (because every player death just helps the enemy).

However, the major downside is that it's just a big tease. If you complete the quest, it's a major undertaking to maintain enough control to claim any of the prizes from the chest. After splitting focus between enemy players and a Greater Daemon, the opposing faction have pretty much control of the field at the point when the quest is complete, which results in them camping the chest and denying the winners any chance to claim their well earned rewards.

They really need to do something to fix this - either temporarily unflag everyone long enough for prizes to be claimed, transport the losing faction back to their warcamp, or just automatically place the rewards into players backpack instead of using the chest. Anything to give the winners a chance to claim their prize.

Personally, I found open RvR alot more fun when I wasn't having a reward dangled in my face and then yanked away at the last minute.

yup, burlok t2 is over run with order and t3 is dead so cant take part.. lol

yea last night I had some fun in T3 with it.

So wasn't too bad, (though I got crap for inf )

Sad thing was my warband was about 1minute from our keep.

Order went around us, attacked it, took it and kept it.

And they wouldn't move because they wanted to do the PQ only.

*shakes head*

I mean come on does everything need to have a darn carrot on a stick to get people to do it?

Do I have to put a lollipop over your toilet to get you to take a crap?

But, that's not the events fault.

I know there is enough negative feedback from this that they won't soon make it this difficult again.

This is what I think a holiday event should be.

Fun =%26lt; Time invested - and in this case the Time was WAY more than the fun.

Lol, make one or two items hard to get for bragging, but make a whole bunch more easy to get so we can have some fun.

After all, that's what I log in for.

hy would you crap on a perfectly good lollipop?

it's halloween. ffs man!

I actually haven't done anything with the halloween event. I was excited at the prospect of it, but I love the decorations of the season, and found that missing from this... I think a nice touch would have been some silly stuff, like TP'ing enemy keeps or some such. maybe some pumpkins in IC... or pumpkin headed demons.

just my 2 brass.

Gets me to go to the bank in person and withdraw $'s from a teller instead of using an ATM

I tried it, didn't work out great so i went back to the scenarios

Does anyone actually know where to go to get the influence rewards? I might just be overlooking something or being a newbie now. In the tome of knowledge under %26quot;live event%26quot; it says %26quot;Visit the Herald and choose your influence reward from one of four cloaks.%26quot;

I thought the Herald was a part of the web site

And not so off topic:

Gathering influence didn't take very long, although it was kinda boring. As for the other rvr related parts of the event I got no idea, as I'm playing on a very underpopulated server and there would be impossible to for example kill off 100 players.

And the so called %26quot;rare%26quot; masks, I wonder how rare they actually are. After filling 2/3 of the influence bar for the quest I had 15 Leather Masks of Gobbo

(EDIT)

I found out myself where the Herald npc is, thanks for the great help and quick replies, you're such a great forum community!

I think this event is an OK start. The game is still new and I doubt this sort of event was on top of their list of things to do.

As far as influence and such goes - I got elite in one day while completing the kill quest part of the event. The only issue was t4 is not very populated as of yet, so I had to do the lords as a chicken in t3.
