Barak Obama childhood

As Barack Obama's candidacy comes under increasing scrutiny, his account of his religious upbringing deserves careful attention for what it tells us about the candidate's integrity.

Obama asserted in December, "I've always been a Christian," and he has adamantly denied ever having been a Muslim. "The only connection I've had to Islam is that my grandfather on my father's side came from that country [Kenya]. But I've never practiced Islam." In February, he claimed: "I have never been a Muslim. … other than my name and the fact that I lived in a populous Muslim country for 4 years when I was a child [Indonesia, 1967-71] I have very little connection to the Islamic religion."

"Always" and "never" leave little room for equivocation. But many biographical facts, culled mainly from the American press, suggest that, when growing up, the Democratic candidate for president both saw himself and was seen as a Muslim.

Obama's Kenyan birth father: In Islam, religion passes from the father to the child. Barack Hussein Obama, Sr. (1936–1982) was a Muslim who named his boy Barack Hussein Obama, Jr. Only Muslim children are named "Hussein".

Obama's Indonesian family: His stepfather, Lolo Soetoro, was also a Muslim. In fact, as Obama's half-sister, Maya Soetoro-Ng explained to Jodi Kantor of the New York Times: "My whole family was Muslim, and most of the people I knew were Muslim." An Indonesian publication, theBanjarmasin Post reports a former classmate, Rony Amir, recalling that "All the relatives of Barry's father were very devout Muslims."

The Catholic schoolNedra Pickler of the Associated Press reports that "documents showed he enrolled as a Muslim" while at a Catholic school during first through third grades. Kim Barkerof the Chicago Tribune confirms that Obama was "listed as a Muslim on the registration form for the Catholic school." A blogger who goes by "An American Expat in Southeast Asia" found that "Barack Hussein Obama was registered under the name ‘Barry Soetoro' serial number 203 and entered the Franciscan Asisi Primary School on 1 January 1968 and sat in class 1B. … Barry's religion was listed as Islam."

The public schoolPaul Watson of the Los Angeles Timeslearned from Indonesians familiar with Obama when he lived in Jakarta that he "was registered by his family as a Muslim at both schools he attended." Haroon Siddiqui of the Toronto Star visited the Jakarta public school Obama attended and found that "Three of his teachers have said he was enrolled as a Muslim." Although Siddiqui cautions that "With the school records missing, eaten by bugs, one has to rely on people's shifting memories," he cites only one retired teacher, Tine Hahiyari, retracting her earlier certainty about Obama's being registered as a Muslim.

Koran class: In his autobiography, Dreams of My Father, Obama relates how he got into trouble for making faces during Koranic studies, thereby revealing he was a Muslim, for Indonesian students in his day attended religious classes according to their faith. Indeed, Obama still retains knowledge from that class: Nicholas D. Kristof of the New York Times, reports that Obama "recalled the opening lines of the Arabic call to prayer, reciting them [to Kristof] with a first-rate accent."

Mosque attendance: Obama's half-sister recalled that the family attended the mosque "for big communal events." Watson learned from childhood friends that "Obama sometimes went to Friday prayers at the local mosque." Barker found that "Obama occasionally followed his stepfather to the mosque for Friday prayers." One Indonesia friend, Zulfin Adi, states that Obama "was Muslim. He went to the mosque. I remember him wearing a sarong" (a garment associated with Muslims).

PietyObama himself says that while living in Indonesia, a Muslim country, he "didn't practice [Islam]," implicitly acknowledging a Muslim identity. Indonesians differ in their memories of him. One, Rony Amir, describes Obama as "previously quite religious in Islam."

Obama's having been born and raised a Muslim and having left the faith to become a Christian make him neither more nor less qualified to become president of the United States. But if he was born and raised a Muslim and is now hiding that fact, this points to a major deceit, a fundamental misrepresentation about himself that has profound implications about his character and his suitability as president.

The stones were all marked before the bridge was disassembled and shipped to Lake Havasu City, developed by McCulloch as an investment. if you beleive that i have a bridge for sale The TAX ALMANAC site has begun a discussion thread on “Urban Tax Legends”, or more appropriately tax myths – statements that many believe to be true but are totally false.

Here are some of the urban tax legends from the forum that I agree are untrue (my comments in parentheses):

· Receiving a 1099 increases your audit risk (However, if you do not report the income from the 1099 on your 1040, or attach some kind of explanation to the return, you will receive a bill from “Sam” for additional tax and accrued interest).

· Filing late in the filing season near April 15 decreases your audit risk (You are audited based on what is on your return and not when you filed it).

· Filing an extension and filing near Oct 15 decreases your audit risk (See above).

· Taxpayers over age 65 (or over 70) who are still working don't have to pay Social Security tax (I actually had an employee at one of my clients tell me that since they are age 70 I do not have to withhold Social Security tax from their paycheck any more – age 70 used to refer to no longer having to reduce/repay your Social Security benefits based on excess earned income).

· You can deduct the cost of your car and all its operating expenses, or mileage, as a business expense if you put advertising on the car (IRS Publication 463 clearly states that “putting display material that advertises your business on your car does not change the use of your car from personal use to business use. If you use this car for commuting or other personal uses, you still cannot deduct your expenses for those uses”).

· You only have to claim the income for which you received a 1099 (All income from self-employment is taxable, whether or not you receive a Form 1099).

· You can deduct a gift of up to $12,000 given to your daughter (You can never deduct a gift to an individual on an income tax return; this applies only to the federal “Gift Tax” – you can make a gift of $12,000 per person per year without becoming subject to the gift tax).

· Police officers can deduct $5 a day as Walking Around Money (This came from a specific tax court decision several years ago that applied only to a specific tax court jurisdiction – in the case state troopers were required to eat their meals at public fast food restaurants to increase their visibility).

· Because the IRS didn't audit your returns, the deduction you have been taking all these years must be legal (It just means you weren’t caught!).

· AMT is only for high income taxpayers (It is not for true high-income individuals, but for the upper-middle class).

· You can incorporate your business in Nevada and pay no state income taxes, even though the corporation does business in your home state and other states (Most states will tax the corporation as a “foreign corporation”).

· When a client calls and says "I have a quick question", it does not mean it will be a quick answer (Oh how true – and “Oh, it’s a simple return” is never a simple return!).

· CPA's know more about taxes than EA's (The opposite is more likely true).

· Putting it on the corporate credit card automatically makes it deductible (Putting a personal expense on a corporate credit card means that you owe the corporation money or you have additional taxable compensation).

· If you go to one of those "pennies on the dollar" places you will only owe them and the government "pennies on the dollar" (Don’t believe those ads – in 99.99% of cases an Offer In Compromise will not let you pay $100 to settle a $10,000 tax debt, more like $7,500 – and you will pay a sizable fee to the “place” – how do you think they can afford to advertise on tv?).

· "What do you mean it's wrong? I used Turbo Tax. It has to be right" (The Tax Court has on at least two occasions rejected the "Turbo-Tax Defense" when a taxpayer attempted to blame tax preparation software for a negligent tax return).

Here are some of the items reported on the forum to which I take exception:

· Using the pre-printed IRS label increases your audit risk (I do believe there really may be some code built in to the federal label regarding your tax-filing history – so just to be safe do not affix the label on your federal income tax return unless you have a spotless past).

· Firefighters can deduct the cost of their lunch since they are on duty 24 hours a shift (When a fire department requires its firefighter-employees to make payments into a common meal fund as a condition of employment, such expenses are ordinary and necessary business expenses under Section 162(a) – and I have the Tax Court references to support this).

Investors in "Bridges TV" Misled?the bridges,bridges tv online

The Buffalo News carries a puff-piece today on the Nov. 30 opening of "Bridges TV," a new cable channel aimed at American Muslim viewers. Its founder and chief executive officer, Muzzammil S. Hassan, 40, says he chose the name because its purpose is "to build bridges of friendship and understanding." It all sounds great until one learns that the project's $5-$10 million in backing from more than fifty investors seems to be based on an error: "Hassan was able to sell investors," theBuffalo News's Jay Tokasz reports, "on key demographics for the nation's estimated 7 million Muslims." A more accurate population figure of U.S. Muslims would be less than half that large.

It is hard to imagine that hard-headed investors would put their funds into an operation premised on the mythical but faulty figure of 7 million Muslims in the United States, but if they really did, then I suspect it won't be around very long. (November 26, 2004)

Nov. 29, 2004 update: The press release announcing Bridges TV's going on air casually mentions "the 8 million Muslims of North America." Given that Canada has an authenticated Muslim populationof just under 600,000, that implies U.S. Muslims number 7.4 million. Who is fooling whom?

Feb. 15, 2005 update: A puff-piece today states that "With 10,000 subscribers already paid up, there is clearly a great demand for programming catered to this niche." Out of a supposed potential audience of 7.4 million, that does not strike me as "clearly a great demand" for what Bridges TV has to offer.

May 18, 2005 update: A Bridges TV press release today includes another interesting demographic statistic: that Islam has "a 6.2 percent annual growth rate" in the United States. I sure wonder where that comes from.

May 1, 2006 update: After nearly a year and a half in operation, where does Bridges TV stand? Judging by a report in the Buffalo News, its commercial prospects look pretty desperate. Responding to an aggressive campaign (which has included accusations of "Islamophobia") to include the station as part of Adelphia Communications' basic cable lineup, Adelphia has released some figures: In the Erie and Niagara counties of New York State, only 34 subscribers of its 300,000 customers have signed up to pay the additional $14.99 per month to receive Bridges TV. The company also indicated it had received a total of 106 e-mail complaints about the premium service fee, of which only 19 came from western New York and only 10 from current customers.

June 14, 2006 update: Thirty-four subscribers out of 300,000, when backed by an effective pressure campaign, turns out to be an adequate number, after all. "Bridges TV Goes Mainstream on Adelphia Cable: The Network Is No Longer a Premium Service on Adelphia Cable," reads Bridges TV's the triumphant press release. The programming will be available on channel 260 of Adelphia Digital Basic Cable service. Nancy Sanders, Bridges TV's news director, helpfully pointed out that her station offers "a completely unique perspective on issues from Danish Cartoons to Dubai Ports."

Oct. 19, 2006 update: Bridges TV has extended its availability into six states, creating a potential audience of nearly 2 million. As its reach spreads, so does the scrutiny. Middle East Media and Research Institute (MEMRI) reports on some of its more dubious guests:

One religious figure who appeared October 3 said Muslims have a duty to change America and to increase their numbers to 50% of the population from 2%. He recommended that Shariah, or Islamic law, be implemented in American courts. During a roundtable discussion on the Arab-Israeli conflict on October 5, one participant offered a solution: "For the Jews to leave and return to Europe."

Bridges TV aired a speech by the influential Muslim scholar Jamal Badawi on October 4. Mr. Badawi, who teaches Islam throughout North America, gave an interview to the Saudi Gazette on June 24, 2005, in which he raised questions about who was behind the September 11 attacks and suggested that Americans could be behind the car bombings of Iraqi markets.

Every night, Bridges TV shows a news program, "Talking Points." Its guest on October 4 was Imam Mohammad Alo Elahi, whom it described as a leading "interfaith figure." According to his Web site, Imam Elahi was a spiritual leader in Ayatollah Khomeini's Iranian navy and also is the leader of "one of the largest mosques in the U.S.," in Dearborn, Mich. The Web site describes his meetings with world leaders and shows photographs of him with the spiritual adviser of Hezbollah, Ayatollah Muhammad Hussein Fadlallah; Ayatollah Khomeini; Presidents Khatemi and Rafsanjani of Iran; Secretary-General Annan of the United Nations; and Minister Louis Farrakhan.

Throughout the day, Bridges TV airs segments of Koranic verses, quite a few of which denounce "unbelievers." One notable verse that aired October 9 praised martyrdom.

Since the Islamic holy month of Ramadan began, the channel has been showing official, Saudi government-controlled Wahhabi sermons from Mecca's holiest mosque, Al-Haram. The sermons stream live via Saudi TV Channel one every day at 4 p.m., and Bridges TV adds its own English subtitles. An anti-Jewish, anti-Christian sermon from October 5 included the call, "May God destroy them!"

Whether you're on a PVP, RP, or Normal server arena is a fun addition in the Burning Crusade addition for all to enjoy. It's a unique player Vs. player feature that's not over crowded as battlegrounds was. You can build your own teams and play exclusively with friends on your team. It's not a random bunch of strangers as you'll often find in BG. This also helps greatly with organization, teammates can communicate via Ventrilo or Teamspeak for better strategies.

In order to enjoy a ranked arena game you must have acquired level 70. However, you can have fun prior to this if you wish to test it out or practice. Practice arenas are un-ranked and will not win you any arena points towards items. In these arenas you do not need a pre-formed team. You are able to enter a queue as you would in battlegrounds and will be paired with a random teammate(s).

Upon hitting level 70 you can then form your team or join an already existing team. If you decide to create your own team it will be similar to guild creation. You will need to purchase a "charter" and have your selected teammates accept an invite to sign it. There is a limit to how many friends you can invite at the time of creation, however you will be able to add others after the team has been formed. 

You can find Arena Organizers in NagrandTanaris, and Blade's Edge Mountains. These are who you will purchase and turn in all you need to create your team. There are costs to purchase a charter and create the guild and different options are available.

- 2 Vs. 2 - 80 Gold

- 3 Vs. 3 - 120 Gold

- 5 Vs. 5 - 200 Gold

After choosing a name for your team and returning the charter you will be able to customize the team by choosing a team flag. This is very similar to a guild tabbard and allows you to pick out a pictured logo and colors. 

The 2 Vs. 2 and 3 Vs. 3 teams are able to compete for arena points and your servers ranking. A 5 Vs. 5 team is the only group able to compete in the official Arena Tournament. This is a competitive feature from Blizzard where you compete against all servers for prizes. The Arena Tournament is split up into seasons and a new winner will be announced for each one. 

No matter which sized team you decide to join or create, points are tallied once a week. Arena rankings can be found on the official World of WarCraft website. You can spend your points at the Arena Vendor in Area 52, Netherstorm. There are really nice epic level 70 set items and weapons that can be bought. Not to mention, they look awesome!

Unlike Battlegrounds, you will not earn points for each match you play. In arena it is based more upon skill than participation alone. If you win you will gain points, if you lose then points will be removed. Your overall weekly arena rank will be determined on how many points you have earned throughout that week. 

Here is the formula released by Blizzard to calculate points you will earn each week:

X = Team Rating, Y = Arena Points 

If X>1500: Y = 1426.79/(1+918.836*Power(2.71828, -0.00386405*X)) 
Else: Y = 0.38*X-194

Note: 2v2 teams only earn 60% of the arena points, 3v3 teams get 80%, while 5v5 teams get 100% of the arena points.

* Update: As of 3-13-07, 2v2 teams now receive 70% of the points generated from the equation. Confirmation on 3v3 arena point adjustments is still needed.
* Update: On 29 May 2007, the formulas used to calculate Arena Points were changed as outlined in a post on the Official WoW Forums by Eyonix.

In order to receive your points, which are awarded each Tuesday, you must meet a criteria. You must have participated in at least 10 matches for the week and have taken part in at least 30% of the total matches played by your team.

In arena you can expect to rotate between three different, and all challenging maps. The Ring of Trials, 
Circle of Blood, and Ruins of Lordaeron - the newest addition just released in patch 2.1. Each map is uniquely styled and will spawn floating diamonds in which you can pick up to have increased stealth detection for a limited time. 

You will begin your time in arena within a secluded area. At this time you can use all mana based skills at no cost, this is a great time to buff your group. All of your prior buffs and conjured items prior to entering will disappear. Hunters pets will also be dismissed before arriving in the arena, however they can be re-summoned once the battle begins.

The objective for arena PvP is quite simple, kill your opponents. There is no side missions as you'll find in battlegrounds, its simply a battle to the last man standing. Once you have died you have the option to come back in ghost form to view the conclusion of the fight. When the last player on either team has fallen the score board will appear and you can click to leave the arena. The score board will show damage and healing done, as well as the total points you have accumulated or lost during the battle. The limitations are few but include no consumables and cool downs that last longer than 15 minutes once you have entered. Bandages and buffs are allowed.

If you haven't checked into Arena PvP as of yet, I would highly recommend doing so. It's a breath of fresh air from BG's.

My guide contains the same leveling strategies, questing patterns, techniques, and secrets I have used to get the best record time to level 60 on a new server, which is 4 days 20 hours /played! ?The realm I have achieved this on was the Jubei'Thos server, and I am currently getting prepared to set records for 1-70!

I either play a male character named Mancow or a female character named Joana. I have been first to 60 now on 6 different servers, one of my goals with World of Warcraft is to get to 60 (or 70 now) on new servers with the least amount of /played time possible, this means each time I went to 60 in WoW I have been revising my routes in order to achieve a better /played time. So far my best time is 4 days 20 hours /played time to 60, this was done on the Jubei'Thos realm. I have this entire 4 day 20 hour run RECORDED, the whole thing is recorded and implemented into my guide!

Why do I level characters to get good /played times? Well, I am a speed runner, I have been doing speed runs through games my whole life, I am a dedicated gamer, and spend LOTS of my time finding the fastest ways to finish a game. I am most likely the fastest Power Leveler in World of Warcraft because of this, many may know me by now with all the servers I have played on, and have seen the results of me hitting 60 under a weeks span. That's right I can get to 60 under a week (playing less than 5 days of it), so I log out plenty to eat, sleep, and other RL things.? I have been talked about by many news sites, such as The Escapist Magazine.? Take a look at typical screenshots of me leveling up on new servers, I get tell after tell all day long while leveling! (also note how far ahead I am from everybody on the /who list, usually when I hit 60, no one else has even hit 50 yet!)

Well guess what, I am now willing to share ALL my horde leveling strategies with the world, I have put together a FULL comprehensive guide that explains how to power level a horde character (more details on it below).

After hitting 60 on Jubei'Thos server in 4 days 20 hours /played time, I proceeded to make a post there, although this was a few months ago and the post is now dead, I'll post it here so you can see what I said:

played time to 60 is 4 days 20 hours over an 8 day span, so I logged out for 76 hours.

Incase anybody is wondering who I really am, I usually go by a male character Mancow, or female character Joana, I race myself to 60 on new servers, trying to beat my last time continuously. Since so many people have asked me how I level so fast, I figured this time I will record my gameplay all the way through. So yep, I FRAPSED (recorded) the ENTIRE thing!

As soon as I get done editing the whole movie, I will then be able to distribute it. I plan on putting voice commentaries in it, speed up any boring parts, I figure I can bring 115 hours of gameplay down to a 35 hour movie, obviously you dont have to watch the whole thing, just the parts/levels you want. Keep in mind that this is a speed run, I tried to get to 60 as FAST as possible (not days span time, but /played time), so the whole thing is action packed. I do plan on having a text guide along with the video. Also, I do 90% questing 10% grinding, so you dont have to watch 35 hours of pure grinding. This video will show people the fastest way to do most of all the horde quests in the game in the least amount of time. And yes questing is a LOT faster, Ive raced myself to 60 by pure grinding, and was only able to get 8 days /played at the most.

So as you can see I enjoy doing speed runs. And no, this isnt the only way I have ever played WoW, the first few times, I took my time and did all the instances and did end game stuff for a few months.

The First,You want to do quests until you hit level 30 before you start grinding.

Once you hit level 30 then go to Shimmering Flats and do all the kill quests and grind on the basilisks around the small lake to the south of the race way until you hit level 33-34. From there if you have higher level help you can go straight to Scarlet Monastery and have them help you grind out that instance several times until you hit level 40. I find this way to be the quickest and best, but only with higher level help.

If higher level help isn't available you still want to do the Scarlet Monastery quests but don't waste your time trying to find group after group after group to do it over and over again as this takes way too much time.

At level 34 your next stop will be Stranglethorn Vale where you can grind on the Venture Co. Meteorologists at Lake Nazferiti. At level 36 you will want to go to Desolace, grab all the kill quests that have to do with nagas and then go swimming to the little island at the northwest corner and kill the nagas. Be careful though, you will want to watch out for the elite giant that wonders around in the area. Don't worry he only comes ever so often and is extremely easy to avoid.

Level 38-39, go to the Badlands and start grinding on EVERYTHING there. All the creatures are really close together and it is an excellent skinning area. At level 40 go to the Lethlor Ravine and start grinding on the whelps you find there. You can also skin these and you might get lucky and see a Tiny Black Whelping drop which usually sells on the Auction House for around 75-100 gold depending on the Serve.

At level 43 go to Tanaris and grind for the wastewander pouches which are carried by the humanoids in the WaterSpring Field. I don't recommend trying this unless you are on a normal server as you will get ganked a lot if tried on a PvP server. At level 45 go south along the coast into the pirate cove and grind there until level 49. There are a lot of treasure chests that spawn all over the place here so you can make a lot of gold here too. Don't forget to get the kill quests for this place!

Next stop is Raventusk Village in the Hinterlands. Grab all the kill quests and do them for really quick experience and you'll be level 52 before you know it! From level 52 you will want to travel to the Burning Steppes and grind on Firegut Ogres until you hit level 54. I would then go to Winterspring and start grinding there. A lot of good grinding spots exist here and are easy to find, so it would be pointless to list them all here. At level 58 grind at the Yeti Cave in Winterspring until you hit level 60.

Congrats, you made it! Of course, feel free to mix and match up these strategies with your own to make it a style you enjoy. Remember, there is no cookie-cutter way to power level but you can create your own by testing, testing, and more testing.

So you are already to play the Druid class - then do it right!

Race played = Tauren
Level obtained = 15
Armor = cloth, leather
Weapon of choice = Staff until lvl 10, then Mace/Offhand,(at levels 15-20 you will find items that you may hold in your off hand that have stat adds like “branches” and “orbs” and other items. So it may be advisable to go Mace at level 10 to get that weapon skill raised.
Leveling Difficulty = Easy
NOTE: the cost to buy each skill is listed next to its name.

The Druid Leveling 1-15

The first thing you want to do is open your inventory and right click on the scroll, or other object that will open the quest window on the left side of the screen and give you your first quest, accept the quest and if you look on your minimap you should see a little yellow dot this dot represents the NPC that you talk too to complete your first quest.(You may have to walk a little ways, but just starting off the quest NPC is usually very close to your starting location) For future reference anytime you see a little yellow dot on your minimap this is the location of an NPC that you have completed a quest for. When you get to level 5 you may take a trade skill, which may also show you little yellow dots on the minimap, these will either represent a “mine node” (if you have the skill “mining”)that can be mined or a “herb plant”(if you have the skill “herbalism”) that can be harvested.

Leveling 1-4

This will go by extremely quickly and in most cases will take roughly 30 to 45 minutes. Get any and all quests from any NPC that has a yellow explanation point above its head. The spells you will have at lvl 1-4 are:

Mark of the Wild Level 1(10 copper)
Cost = 20 Mana —– Casting time = Instant —– Range = 30 yards
Raises your armor by 25, can also be casted on friendly targets.
Spell lasts 30 minutes.

Wrath Level 1(free)
Cost = 20 Mana —– Casting time = 1.5 secs. —– Range = 30 yards
Hits the target for 13-16 Nature Damage.

Healing Touch Level 1(free)
Cost = 30 Mana —– Casting time = 1.5 secs. —– Range = 40 yards
Heals yourself or a friendly Target for 40 to 55.

The druid class is very dangerous if played right, not only can the Druid heal itself as well as others, it can also cast offensive spells, as well as root its victims in place and still keep casting, there are talents that even cause anyone who attacks the druid to become instantly rooted! Did I forget to mention that if you are lucky enough to get close to a Druid that it can Shapeshift into a bear? - Now you have to fight a tank that just got a large increase to its attack power and hit point pool! In my opinion the only class that should be able to solo a well experienced Druid, is a Hunter with an awesome pet AND if the hunter can get the jump on the druid. All of that being said you will have no problems at all getting this class to 15 in a hurry. The beginning skills are simply perfect, the Mark of the Wild will give you some added armor and for the first few levels simply make sure you are buffed with mark of the wild and close to casting range,(you are in casting range when the hotbar slot that your wrath spell is located on has a little number that is red, when that number turns white you are in range.) And start chain casting wrath until the mobs closes to melee range and whack on it a few time and its dead. If you took enough damage to warrant a heal simply select yourself and click on the healing touch spell. When targeting a mob make sure that you right click it, this puts you into combat mode so if it does get into melee range you will automatically start whacking on it if you are not already casting a spell. If at anytime I mention a skill that you do not have on your hotbar simply open up the abilities menu and left click the spell then drag it onto your hotbar.(Make sure you bought the skill or spell if it is not a free one, or you will not find a picture of it anywhere) At the lower levels you will only experience the “melee” type mob’s, later on you will face mobs that once you cast a spell on them they will start casting spells on you! A little trick on casting spells… some spells when you get higher level have a “cooldown” time so you cannot keep casting over and over again, however at the lower levels wait until you see the green bar hit the end of the line and click again, do not wait for the bar to fill and disappear, click it as soon as the bar is filled this gives you about a .1 - .2 seconds of advantage over other players that simply wait until the bar disappears. By now you should be getting to level 4.

Leveling from 4-6

At level 4 you may buy the following skills:

MoonFire Level 1(50 copper)
Cost = 25 Mana —– Casting time = Instant —– Range = 30 yards.
Does 8-10 Arcane damage to the target and then DOT’s the target for an additional 12 damage over the course of 9 seconds.

Rejuvenation Level 1(50 copper)
Cost = 25 Mana —– Casting time Instant —– Range = 40 yards
Heals yourself or a friendly target for 32 points over 12 seconds.

Here we have 2 new, very useful skills, Moonfire which is a DOT spell and Rejuvenation. Notice that the rejuvenation spell is an Instant cast spell which means you can cast this while running away from a bad combat situation. At this time your combat should look something like this: (make sure you have mark of the wild on) Moonfire, Wrath, wrath, wrath, melee. If you are in the middle of combat and you know you can beat the mob you are just running a little low on hit points simply cast rejuvenation and keep on swinging this will be healing you while you are in the middle of combat. Also since you have the power to heal yourself you do not need to keep any food you find you can simply sell it or give it to a non-healer class friend, you will need drinks though so if you find them keep them unless you have too many in your backpack already. Continue on to level 6, at level 6 you will most likely leave the “noob” town and make your way to another town to get new quests and higher level mobs. Up to now when you see a mob it was most likely yellow which means that these will not attack you if you get too close, however if see a mob that is red then this mob will attack you if you get to close, this is commonly called “agro”. Do not forget to always cast that Moonfire spell first, however I know a few players that said that they chain casted Wrath until the mob got within melee range and then used the Instant Moonfire, you may

want to try this to see if it works for you.

Leveling 6-8

At level 6 you may buy the following spells:

Thorns Level 1(1 silver 50 copper)
Cost = 35 Mana —– Casting time = Instant - Range = 30 yards.
This spell surrounds the caster in thorns as well as any friendly target that the casters casts the spell on. The thorns do 3 Nature damage to attackers when they hit.
Spell lasts 10 min..

Wrath Level 2(1 silver 50 copper)
Cost = 35 Mana —– Casting time = 1.7 secs —– Range = 30 yards.
Deals 25 to 29 Nature damage to selected target.

Now at level 6 we get an upgrade to our Wrath spell as well as another buff spell “Thorns”, now anytime you enter combat you should have “Mark of the Wild” and “Thorns” on, if these are on you will see them in the upper right hand corner of the screen. Although Thorns does not do a great deal of damage it does hit every time(Unless resisted) By now you should be pretty familiar with the quest system as well as knowing what level mobs you can handle. Playing as a druid you can probably handle mobs 1 -2 levels above your level if you need too. Also if you are going to take any trade skills get them now, even if you have to take some time to walk to your nearest capitol,(which is pretty close to you now) You can get your 2 main tradeskills at lvl 5.

Leveling 8-10

At level 8 you may buy the following spells:

Entangling Roots Level 1(2 silver)
Cost = 50 Mana —– Casting time = 1.5 secs. —– Range = 30 yards.
Roots the target in place and causes 20 nature damage over 12 sec. This Spell can only be cast outside.

Healing Touch Level 2(2 silver)
Cost = 60 Mana —– Casting time = 2 secs. —– Range = 40 yards
Heals yourself or a friendly target for 88-112

At level 8, the spell “Entangling Roots” really opens up some options for the Druid. You can simply cast “Entangling Roots” on the mob and mana dump using wrath after casting Moonfire, If you do this in most cases the mob will never even make it to you to start melee. Using that method though, will require a steady supply of drinks as this will burn your mana after 2 or 3 pulls. The spell Healing Touch level 2 is really not needed at this time unless you are going to be in a group, if you are solo simply keep using the Healing Touch level 1 or rejuvenation. If things do get out of hand during a pull you can always use Entangling Roots as an emergency get away spell simply cast it to root the mob and run away. As a side note you can continue to cast offensive spells at a mob after it is rooted, the mob will not break free right away(in most cases). By now you should have visited your capitol or have a quest that leads you to your capitol for your race. As a side note you cannot sell conjured food or water, yes I already tried… At level 10-11 you will most likely leave the level 5-10 “area” and be sent on a quest to visit a new location, this is also the level at which you may be introduced to your first “elite” quest. Elite quests are not meant to be done solo and no you cannot solo an “elite” mob that is your same level in most cases. I believe Bliz did this to encourage “grouping” after level 10 if you so desire. You can easily tell an “elite” mob from a normal mob by the word “elite” in the mobs name or the wreath around the mobs pic when you left click it. You can safely left click a mob to get info however if you right click it then you enter combat mode with that mob.

Leveling 10-12

At level 10 you may buy the following spells:

Moonfire Level 2(3 silver)
Cost = 50 Mana —– Casting time = Instant —– Range = 30 yards.
Damages the enemy target for 13-17 then DOT’s it for 32 damage over 12 seconds.

Mark of the Wild Level 2(3 silver)
Cost = 50 Mana —– Casting time = Instant —– Range = 30 yards
Increases the casters or a friendly targets armor by 65.
Spell lasts 30 minutes.

Rejuvenation Level 2(3 silver)
Cost = 40 Mana —– Casting time = Instant —– Range = 40 yards
Heals the caster or another friendly target for 56 damage over 12 seconds.

Bear Form(10 copper)
Cost = 52 Mana —– Casting time = Instant —– Cooldown = 1.5 secs
The caster takes the form of a bear, increasing health by 20, attack power by 30, increases armor by 65% of the items being worn. This Shapeshift also breaks all roots, snares, and freeze effects. The caster gains the use of the bear skills and cannot be polymorphed while in the form of a bear.

Demoralizing Roar(3 silver)
Cost = 10 Rage —– Casting time = Instant —– Must be in a bear form
The bear roars, decreasing all enemies close to the caster attack power by 30.
Spell lasts 30 secs.

Maul Level 1(10 copper)
Cost = 15 Rage —– Activation time = Next melee attack —– must be in a bear form.
Raises the druids attack damage by 18.

Growl Level 1(3 silver)
Cost = 5 Rage —– Casting time = Instant —– must be in a bear form.
This skill increases the threat to the druid.

The Druid at level 10 gets a ton of new skills, as well as it’s first shapeshifiting ability. The Mark of the Wild and Moonfire spells, as well as Rejuvenation are all upgrades to previous spells. At 10 the druid can Shapeshift into a bear, although to be honest it is not necessary yet at these low levels. At 10, I switched from a staff to a Mace so that I might use an item in my offhand to increase my stats, as the druid is not really a melee peep in druid form anyway. I still went about hunting mobs using: Entangling roots, wrath, wrath, wrath, and Moonfire if the target broke the root, there were a few time when things seem to “hit the fan” so I shapeshifted into bear form and it saved me every time. Just keep in mind you cannot cast in bear form. As far as the skills go “Growl is only needed if you are a member of a party and you need to take over the agro, Demoralizing Roar should really only be used if fighting more then 1 mob at a time. When in bear form I simply did Maul, Maul, Maul, sounds easy now but the closer to 15 I got I actually had to do a little thinking in a few of my combats, so don’t get too overconfident when in bear form, also make sure you always keep 52 mana available to Shapeshift, if you mana burn you will get stuck in druid form wearing leather armor…(I always had a mana potion ready in case I really needed it. Just drink the potion and Shapeshift as soon as possible. By now you should understand the basics of playing a Druid, and at the capitol city you should also find your “bank” as this has numerous “slots” to store your items, before storing items see if you can “stack” them by dragging one item over the top of another items of the same type. Stackable items include: potions, food, water, crafting materials, and crafting supplies. Also depending on which type of server you are playing on PvP or PvE you may start to see enemies from the other “realm.” From level 10-20 the basics of the game and the mobs start to take you out of the “noobness” and into the full game, expect to fight “caster” mobs, “bow and arrow” mobs and mobs that will give you poison, stuns, or other negative status effects. You may also want to open your “social” window and flag yourself as “looking for a group” if that is a style of play that you desire.(You also may choose to pick a talent here, see the bottom of this post for a link to a list of the talents available.)

Leveling 12-14

At level 12 you may buy the following skills:

Regrowth Level 1
Cost = 120 Mana —– Casting time = 2 secs. —– Range = 40 yards.
This is the Druids big heal spell, heals for 84-98 right away and HOT’s(Heal Over Time) for another 98 over 21 secs.

Enrage Level 1
Costs = 0 —– Casting time = Instant —– cooldown = 20 secs. —– Range = 30 yards —– Must be in a bear form.
Gives the Bear 20 rage over 10 seconds, during this time the bear is considered in “in combat” and its armor is decreased 75%.

The Regrowth spell is a huge mana sink but also is the druids biggest heal spell, as I soloed allot I only used this spell once and it was an extreme overkill. The enrage skill should never be used in combat but casted about 5 seconds before entering melee, however to be quite honest I never even needed this skill to solo mob my level and 2 levels above me. Congrats as it seems you are now ready to leave the noob zones and finally “make your Mark” on the world(pun intended) If you are a Druid then you have to be a Tauren, you should be making your way towards the crossroads(that’s a town), here you will start to find that you are not in the lobie noob zones anymore. The majority of the mobs are aggressive(red con) and if you pull them and they have buddies nearby they will come also. You will also find mobs that “call” other mobs if they get hurt and are close to death, so if there are other mobs close by that are of the same type do not be surprised if they agro you when you have the mob you are working on almost dead. The best way to see this is to mouse over your chat window, go to the tab that says “combat” left click and hold and drag it to the right side of your screen to separate it from the chat window, now you can review all the damage and other combat related actions taken by you and the mob you were in combat with, as well as seeing any new chat messages in the chat window. At this level you really need to be paying full attention to your surroundings. In the barrens you really need to watch what you are doing and stay away from the “dinosaur looking” lizards south of the crossroads as they are melee and casters, and will zap you with lightning damage. Needless to say, now is a good time to get in a group. Also at the crossroads I am 99.9% sure you will experience your first PvP encounter…

Leveling 14-20:

At level 14 you may buy the following spells:

Wrath Level 3
Cost = 55 Mana —– Casting time = 2 secs —– range = 30 yards.
This is an upgraded wrath spell that will hit for 44 to 52 nature damage.

Cure Poison
Cost = 40 Mana —– Casting time = Instant —– Range = 30 yards
Cures 1 poison status effect from the target.

Healing Touch Level 3
Cost = 120 Mana —– Casting time = 2.5 secs —– Range = 40 yards
Heals the caster or a friendly target for 195 - 243.

Thorns Level 2:
Cost = 60 Mana —– Casting time = Instant —– Range = 30 yards.
This is an upgraded Thorns spell dealing 6 damage to all attackers.
Spell lasts 10 min..

Bash Level 1
Cost = 10 Rage —– Casting time = Instant —– Cooldown = 1 minute —– Rage = melee —– Must be in a bear form.
Stuns the target for 2 secs.

Except for “Bash” and “Cure Poison” all the spells you get at this level are upgrades. Cure Poison is self explanatory, Bash works decently in bear form, however it is hardly needed except for emergencies and then it only stuns for 2 secs and has a nasty cooldown on it. Keep your buffs up and as you are most likely in the barrens watch out for the alliance peeps passing through, I heard Night Elf meat is really tender and tastes good to a bear… Pretty soon you will be heading to your second set of “elite quests”, so hopefully by now you have met quite a few players and already have some friends you can do the quests with. As you do your quests remember that the top most quest in your quest list under an area is the easiest one to complete, so in most cases you should do these quests first.

Smith Sam' Talks Gold Farming, Power Leveling

Though its use of English was a little iffy, the piece was notable because it tried to present a history of the ever-controversial (and likely EULA-busting) third-party item-trading business, which has thrived through use of cheap labor in emerging markets.

So I followed up with the writer, the Chinese-based 'Smith Sam', who appears to be one of the owners of USFine, and got a little background on the company he helps run. According to Sam, there are forty employees at the company, which offers power-leveling (having a third party level up your MMO character for you) and in-game gold in a pretty comprehensive set of games.

His company's Top 5 most popular games in terms of demand right now are World of Warcraft, Final Fantasy XI ,Runescape, Maplestory, and Lord of The Rings Online. But they offer services for almost 15 types of game, including Vanguard, Sword Of The New World, Gaia Online, and even 2Moons.

Although power leveling is also a major part of USFine's business, and the subject of the essay below, Sam notes that gold and/or in-game currency tends to be the best market for them overall. Interestingly, Sam also comments that Google and Yahoo! search engine results are one of the chief methods of advertising his company's services - showing how much the major generic search engines have penetrated these types of niche, potentially infringing markets.

What follows are some edited highlights from 'Smith Sam''s on the ground impressions of how this power leveling market has evolved. Of course, with major companies like the VC-funded Live Gamer trying to officially muscle in on this market by partnering with publishers for secure item trading - if not power leveling, one suspects - it'll be intriguing to see how this controversial and oft-maligned submarket evolves.

The State Of Power Leveling For MMOs

At present, most companies are engaged in Power Leveling (generally for World Of Warcraft) mainly in China and some countries in Southeast Asia. The primitive North America power-leveling companies changed their role gradually, or faced bankruptcy thanks to inexpensive labor in Asia.

Chinese-based game service companies offering WoW power-leveling numbered less then 30 in 2004, but service companies will surpass 2000 soon, and this number is growing continuously. Looking over the entire Southeast Asian market, many of these companies are concentrated in the Philippines, Thailand, Vietnam, and other areas in India. North Korea is worth mentioning because the labor cost is currently the most inexpensive. [EDITOR'S NOTE: This is the first we've heard of North Koreans playing World Of Warcraft - can anyone point to further evidence of this?]

Since power-leveling services for World Of Warcraft started, competition has certainly caused the price to curve down. Also, thanks to the WoW expansion, it's now changed to Levels 1-70 from its original Levels 1-60. Therefore, Levels 1-60 was originally 350 dollars when such services started, dropping to about 129 dollars in today's market. For Levels 1-70, it started costing about 490 US dollars, and has now dropped to 250 US dollars.

The variety of services now offered include specific quest completions and PVP power-leveling. For leveling itself, according to the average price, each level started costing around 6 US dollars, and has dropped to less then 2.5 US dollars. The reasons for this are as follows:

1. The power-leveling companies increased, bringing huge competitive pressure.
2. The skill of leveling is more and more demanding.
3. The large-scale company's monopoly on cheap prices causes other companies to have insufficient funds. To compete, those companies have to reduce prices to survival.

There are risks in the services provided because Blizzard continuously attacks power-levels and massively power-leveling account can get suspended and banned. However, inexpensive labor force costs and relatively high profits allows these companies to weather more risk.

As for us here at USFine.com, the company was established in August 2006. It was originally engaged in equipment resells, but when the WoW power-leveling market developed, its strategy for entering the market was to offer services "slightly lower price then the market value." In 2006, the average power-leveling price of Levels 1-60 stabilized at basically around 169 US dollars.

As a result, Usfine expanded quickly in early 2007. Usfine entered the second development phase by increasing the power-leveling service, and deliberately lowering the price for Levels 1-60 to 129 dollars - the lowest price on market; resulting in fierce price competitions from 2006 to the beginning of 2007. However, the company also encountered many problems regarding low risk control in this initial period. Therefore, some customer accounts got banned - but during 2007 Usfine has come a long ways regarding the risks involved.

Overall, the battle between leveling companies and game producers will be long-lasting. At present, there is no explicit legal rule to claim whether the service is allowed or not regarding - therefore, WoW power-leveling needs a long period to be completely mature. Everyone is waiting to see what happens.
